 MY GUIDING PRINCIPLES

·  My deep spiritual commitment:  I believe that I am guided by God in my work and in my personal life.  I spend time every day with a meditation in order to deepen my faith and be guided every step of the way.

·  An insatiable curiosity:  I am very curious about people… what motivates them… what they're passionate about.

·  An ability to perceive potential beyond one’s fears:  Our fears can become obstacles to achieving more.  They prevent us from seeing what’s possible.

·  A burning desire for my clients that they live to the fullest: “Life is not a dress rehearsal.” –Rose Tremain.  My heart longs for my clients to live up to their greatest potential.  That’s where they find joy, fun, and fulfillment.

THESE ARE IMPORTANT TO ME

I love to stretch and grow.  I am always looking for my next step… the next place to stretch my intellect, my skills, my spirituality, and my life.  I’m particularly excited when I’m asked about my faith, because it’s only by questioning that my faith is challenged and grows.

I am not satisfied with mediocrity.  I believe that, if a person has the potential and the right teachers, they can learn and achieve anything they set their mind to do.

I am a late bloomer.  I went to college right out of high school and discovered very soon that I was not ready for that step.  I went back to college many years later and discovered then that I was thirsty for learning.  It also took me until my mid-40s to discover what I really wanted to be when I grew up… a Life Coach!

I am a “preacher’s kid,” also known as a P.K.  This means that I grew up in the public eye.  My family was expected to live up to a certain standard.  My experience of living this “fishbowl existence” has provided me with empathy for others who feel limited because of this type of exposure.

MY BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE

Since 2000, I have been coaching clients, which include one of the nation’s largest mortgage companies, small business owners, artists, business professionals, and clergy.  I have worked successfully with individuals, corporate teams, workshop groups, and retreat audiences.

Life Coach Training: A graduate of the CTI Co-Active Leadership Program[1] in San Rafael, California, I have been a Co-Active Coach since 2000.  I am also a graduate of the Coaches Training Institute[2], San Rafael, California.  My coaching and leadership training is an on-going process in which I consistently attend life coaching workshops and retreats, and hone my skills with other coaches who provide critical feedback.

Professional Life before Coaching: For over twenty years prior to becoming a Life Coach, I worked in the financial services industry in commercial and residential real estate.  Most recently, I was a mortgage loan officer for 12+ years, working with clients over the phone, providing them with credit counseling as well as filling their mortgage loan needs.

College, etc.: I attended Central College in Pella, Iowa, as a voice major in music.  I also attended Metropolitan State University, St. Paul, Minnesota as a psychology major.  My education has been augmented by attending countless workshops and seminars on coaching, time management, project management, and personal growth.

Community and Other Interests: In the community, I sing in the local Symphony Chorus as well as my church choir.  I’m also involved in committee work at my church.  I enjoy volunteering occasionally for Habitat for Humanity and other charitable organizations.  I love to travel, read, walk, and spend time with my family and pets.
